Currently have a complement of 86 4 car units making 43 train sets. The new
ones will be 8 cars long so no wasted middle cabs, 1 complete unit
less......after all they will be ultra reliable etc etc...... And once they
are in the frequency will increase. Currently must have 1 spare train set
minimum in the contract at the depot.
The requirement for a Mon to Fri peak is 37 trains for the current timetable
introduced on 04/07/04.
As for the windows......artistic licence the man said....so he took it. I
will find out some more info on this and post later. Management (and
unions), have visited Derby and seen a mock up....
Unrelated interesting fact: Its 21.25kms from Walthamstow to Brixton and the
scheduled kms in passenger service is 16,287.4kms a day.....(not each!) Plus
all that running up the depot and back.
