Default New 2005 Fares -- Children

TfL responded to my enquiries regarding the new 2005 child fares and Family
Travelcard fares. I thought it might be of general interest, so here it is:

Marc,

Thank you for your email.

Please bear in mind that the initial press release announcement about the
new fares packages tends to be a little light in detail. Full information on
the fares range is generally forthcoming over the last couple of months of
the year before introduction in January 2005. More detailed information will
certainly follow.

It is true to say that child rate single/return fares for tubes, buses,
trams and the DLR are frozen. However, Travelcard prices are negotiated with
the Association of Train Operating Companies (ATOC) which represents
National Rail operators. These fares (ie: daily and period Travelcards) are
generally rising, including the child versions.

The Family Travelcard next year will rise as follows:

Adult:
1-2 £3.10
1-4 £3.40
1-6 £4.00
2-6 £2.60

Child:
1-6 £0.80
