You can't buy a ticket online *to* an Underground destination either.
You can at NR ticket offices. PITA.

Can SPORTIS issue tickets to an individual Underground station[1]? On
the train here whenever someone asks for a tube station, the reply from
the conductor is usually "is that in the 6 zones" and after the reply
"OK then - travelcard"

[1] Yeah, you'd probably have to get it swapped at Marks Tey/Liverpool
Street for a gate friendly ticket, but you have to do that with an
R1256 anyway.

My use of tickets to Underground zones is for longer than day trips. If
you go over one day all the NR/TfL ticketing integration goes to pot.

I don't know about Sportis which is now obsolete here but the portable
machines currently used by WAGN can do tickets to Underground zones I
think, as well as the Shere machines in Cambridge station.
