If you touch in, but then don't touch out, what is the charging scheme?
Are you charged the maximum for the route you're on, or the minimum or
what?

What do you think? This is PT we're talking about here.

If I knew I wouldn't be asking. It's just that someone had the tag
line "Always touch in and touch out" but the other day I went through
the gates at Clapham Junction and the gates were open and people were
just being herded through by the staff without the chance to stop and
touch out, hence my question. Or perhaps you just don't know the
answer.

Oh, I don't. I wouldn't carry an Oyster since I have no wish to report
my movements to Ken Livingstone.

Unregistered prepay, pass it arround. Of course when they break (frequently)
they steal the value left on the card off you.

But since the point of PT is to rip people off, it's obvious which way
round it is.

You are correct, it's (almost) the highest charge - a Z1-6 single. Cheaper
then a Z1-D single, so dont touch out at Amersham!
