I just noticed that a single zone 7-day Travelcard outside Z1 is £11.20,
giving bus travel across London as well as Tube, rail and DLR travel
within the zone.

A 7-day Bus Pass is £11.00... just 20p cheaper. Let's say you live in
Zone 2; if you make daily bus journeys but make a return Tube journey
into central London just once, you will save 60 or 80p (depending on the
time of day, and assuming you use stored pre-pay for the zone extension).

If it's Zone 2, for your extra 20p a week you also get use of any local
Tube, rail or DLR services, which could be extremely useful in
particular parts of London.

Additionally, when you factor in potential Customer Charter claim
refunds for the almost inevitable delays on your particular tube line,
it makes for even greater savings!
