Default Farewell to the 36 RMs

Ian Jelf wrote to uk.transport.london on Tue, 1 Feb 2005:

Some people (all North Londoners) I was talking to after a walk recently
were all coming out with this sort of stuff. I was trying to get them
interested in a guided walk of Crystal Palace and the principal reason
they weren't interested was because it was so difficult to get to places
south of the river by public transport.

They really ought to try living in a shire county if they want to see
"difficult" public transport.......

Oh well, north London - foreign country, innit? I know my daughter &
her fiancé spent the night with his sister when he was called to the
bar, and when they visited us next day, she said, "Do you know, I've
never spent the night in North London before!" When she was younger I
once suggested she might, one day, want to live there - she was like,
"No-o-o, don't make me!"
