I was just looking through the upcoming Bus service changes and saw that
the 14 (Putney Heath - Tottenham Court Road) and 22 (Piccadilly Circus -
Putney Common) are due to switch to accessible double deckers from the
23rd of July.
Used to take those routes extensively when I was living in Kingston (89
to Putney and then either a 14 or 22 to Picadilly Circus) rather than
take the train to Waterloo and go by underground.
There was much talk between conducters and various members of the public
around February/March time about this and some of the conducters are
becoming drivers, some (I think) are being made redundant and others are
simply retiring.

I have read this post with much nostalgia. I remember converting from RTs
to RMs while still at Elmers End garage (sadly no longer there) and driving
RMs at that depot, and then at Walworth and finally at Sidcup. A great
vehicle - almost as good as the RT !! (Almost!)
