I was living in SE London at that time, so I can't make any comment
from personal experience, but another reliable bus site (Ian's Bus
Stop) records ...

Withdrawal of the wartime RTs from Putney Bridge in February
1955 brought replacements for route 14 in the shape of RTWs
scraped together from surpluses around the fleet.


Which is why I was more cagey about the earlier part of the period
mentioned by you. I don't really recall the days when F was still open
and only remember seeing pre-war RTs at Hammersmith.

However, I was bus-spotting quite a bit from about 1960 to 1963. What I
do remember on the 14 were roof route box RTs (Saunders-bodied) up to
the point where RMs came along. They could have been in the J
allocation and not from AF I suppose but I just don't remember seeing
RTWs at Oxford Road which was and still is just round the corner from
my parents'.
