We're all DOOMED, DOOMED I SAY

BIRD FLU ALERT! (H5N1 Avian Flu):

WARNING: "The World Health Organization says a pandemic of bird flu is
inevitable and could cause 50,000 deaths in the UK."

"Professor John Oxford, a leading UK expert, said the virus had broken
down the "final door" which prevented it being spread between people."

"it is likely there will be more cases where the virus is passed from
human to human."

"Scientists have said a woman who died of bird flu probably contracted
the disease from her daughter."

UK: "The UK government is to stockpile two million doses of vaccine to
combat bird flu amid warnings of a global pandemic."

USA: "Mass production of a new vaccine that scientists believe could
protect against an avian flu outbreak could begin as early as
mid-September"

USA: "US health officials will order millions of doses of an
experimental avian flu vaccine, even before the shots have been tested
in two critical populations"

"The UK government has warned that, without measures to contain an
outbreak, 50,000 people in the UK could die."

"Tamiflu, made by Swiss firm Roche, works by reducing the symptoms and
the risk of a carrier passing on the virus. WHO director general
Jong-wook Lee said he hoped even more could be stockpiled in the
future. Many developed countries, including Britain, have already said
they will stockpile the antiviral drug."

The general public will not be issued with drugs or breathing
protection. There will be a shortage of both, fuelled by panic buying,
when the outbreak hits Western Europe and the United States, which
experts agree it definitely will. If you want to protect yourself and
your family then you have to act now.

There have been other disease outbreaks. But never this panic about
sudden mutation into highly infectious human pandemics. Do they know
something about the H5N1 Bird Flu virus that they are not telling us?

"AMID ominous signs that H5N1 bird flu is acquiring the ability to
spread more readily among people, many health authorities are pinning
their hopes on Tamiflu, the only available antiviral drug known to
block the replication of the virus. But can the drug really help stop
an emerging flu pandemic?

Even if efforts to develop a vaccine are successful (New Scientist, 26
March, p 10), it could take many months to produce the billions of
doses needed in the event of a pandemic. By then it might be too late.
So in the meantime, the World Health Organization is stepping up its
efforts to acquire a massive stockpile of Tamiflu (oseltamivir)..."

The H5N1 bird flu, whose known human death toll has now reached 32, has
made its first foray outside Asia. It turned up at Brussels airport
last week in a pair of eagles smuggled from Thailand, and caused one
human infection.

You can get 'Tamiflu' - which helps prevent flu and lessen its impact
if taken before infection - online. (Do a search on Google.)

(Another good antiviral 'Relenza' is also available online.)

Vira 38 is a controversial rival Bird Flu antiviral but this page also
has some valuable tips on avoiding bird flu:

(NB: Tamiflu is more widely respected as an anti-avian flu drug.)

You can also get protective PFR (Particulate Filter Respirator)
surgical masks from hospital suppliers such as Universal Hospital
Supplies in Southgate:
