Hmm. I tried to buy a Saver return from Newbury to London Paddington
a couple of weeks back to be told the only tickets on offer for that
journey were a single, a day return or a Network AwayBreak. I
consider myself an informed punter but even I was left confused by
this. God alone knows how the average "customer" makes sense of the
system...


Network Awaybreaks are still sold for some journeys by some TOCs. WAGN
scrapped them for Cambridge-London last year. The main difference is
that they only allow return within 5 days compared to a month for Savers.
