Did I mention you can vote the ******* out of office in 2004 ?? :-)

But in favour of whom? Someone who parrots central government party
political dogma rather than *trying* (successfully or otherwise) to
do something for London

And what was actually in his manifesto...

Too bloody right! He might have his failings but at least KL is a
Londoner who loves London and has a history of working for Londoners.

I'm a Londoner who has lived through Ken's GLC and his recent sequel.

It would be interesting to hear about all this historical work that he has
done for me.

Of course, he's got some things wrong but at least his head and heart
are in the right place.

Depends if you think 'the left' is the right place or not, doesn't it? And
personally I do not.

What's the realistic alternative? A mainstream career party
politician who sees the London Mayorship as a short-term stepping
stone on his way up the ladder? The day the London Mayor role becomes
just another rung on the Westminster ladder is the day it becomes
worthless.

Oh please. Very few politicians are as careerist as Ken Livingstone.
Couldn't get anywhere within the Labour party, so switched to a supposedly
independent ticket, while all the time supporting his buddies on the left of
the party.

He has ruthlessly and cynically capitalised on Londoner's stupidity,
gluttony for punishment, and short memories. I reckon we don't need a mayor
OR a GLA, and there's way way too many tiers of government as it is, all of
it at a price.
