Commenting on the reports that the Government secretly agreed to
increases in London rail fares in order to reduce overcrowding, Shadow
Transport Secretary, Chris Grayling said:

"It's quite clear the Government has a hidden agenda to use
overcrowding on the railways to raise fares. It's what always happened
in the days of British Rail when the trains got too full and now
they're doing it again.

"This is a complete betrayal of rail passengers by a Government that
