Might be a stupid question, but if I get a CDR from Laindon to Custom

or can I use tube/DLR as well?

From the National Fares Manual, Section L
(
http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/passen...manuals.html):

"INTERAVAILABILITY OF RAIL & LU/DLR TICKETS

National Rail tickets which include validity between any two North
London Line stations between Richmond and North Woolwich are also
valid by LU/DLR services by any reasonable combination of LU/DLR
services, but not for exit at any intermediate LU or DLR station."

So the answer is yes, you can use Tube/DLR as well.

That's interesting - it implies that when travelling between two NLL
stations, you can buy an NLL ticket but use the Tube. For example,
Richmond to West Ham costs £4.30 CDR but costs £5.00 for a daytime
Oyster fare; why not just buy an NR ticket and use the reasonable route
of the District line?

The ticket descriptions on Qjump aren't very clear, but it looks as if
one ticket is £9ish and another is £13ish including a travelcard. Do
I need a travelcard to use non-Silverlink on this short section?

No - see above.
