Gatwick travelcard query

I have a zone 1-2 weekly travelcard and will be travelling to Gatwick
tomorrow morning (subject to further chaos and cancellations), taking
the Thameslink from London Bridge. Does anybody happen to know if a
boundary zone 2 to Gatwick extension ticket would be valid for that
journey, given that the train in question doesn't actually physically
stop in zone 2?
Thanks in advance!

Yes it would be - season tickets (inc. season Travelcards) can be
combined with another normal ticket even when the train doesn't stop at
the changeover point. Talk of changeover points here is probably
irrelevant as you'll probably be issued with a ticket from 'Boundary
Zone 2' to Gatwick - the boundary between zones 2 and 3 exists between
Brockley and Honor Oak stations.
Note that London to Gatwick tickets for travel on FCC-Thameslink [1]
only are actually cheaper than the equivalent 'any route permitted
except Gatwick Express' ticket (i.e. the ticket that is valid on both
Southern and FCC-Thameslink trains). So specify that you'll be
travelling on an FCC-Thameslink train to get the cheaper fare.
[1] FCC-Thameslink refers to the First Capital Connect: Thameslink
route. I'm certain that ticket office staff will know exactly what is
meant if you just refer to it as 'Thameslink'.
