Well, MIke, I'm glad SOMEONE continued the phrase!
Having now spoken to someone at "One" (can that really be the successor
to the Great Eastern Railway?!), they have said that there is meant to
be a conductor on board the train to sell tickets but "in recent weeks
we have been let down by staff". I.e. they can't train the Poles
quickly enough to replace the home-grown idlers who can't be bothered
to turn up for work!
