Default Silverlink / District Line Richmond Ticket validity question

I bought a ticket From Bookham to Gunnersbury today 'Not London' for
£11.10 I change at Clapham Junction and Richmond. as suggested by the
national rail site.

The only other option from my South West Train Ticket Machine was
Gunersbury via London Not Tube.. Definately not the right way to get there.

When I got to Richmond there were District Line Tubes and Silverlink
Metros on this piece of track. I couldnt decide whether the ticket was
valid on both to Gunnersbury or not.

In the end I got the Silverlink up and the Tube back.

The back of the ticket talks about there needing to be a plus symbol for
validity on the tube but there was none.

So was I technically a fare evader today on my district line train

No, it was fine.

From the National Fares Manual, section L
(http://www.atoc.org/retail/_download...Common_L.pdf):

"National Rail tickets which include validity between Richmond and
Stratford and intermediately at any North London Line station are also
valid by LU/DLR services by any reasonable combination of LU services,
but not for exit at any intermediate LU station."
