Default Shepherds Bush Central line station improvements

I saw a diagram a while back that showed the layout of the new tunnels and
lift shafts etc at Shepherds Bush. I can't seem to find it at the moment,
but no problem regarding this query.

There appears (from street level) to be two new shafts under construction,
either side of the road into the bus terminus, that on the west side is
presumably below the eventual new Central Line surface building; which makes
me wonder why a direct link into the new WLL/Overground station wasn't part
of the plan for the eastern shaft, which is at the other end of the Central
Line platforms?

One of the contractor's web sites states this shaft is for emergency use
only, surely it would have been a better arrangement to avoid a pedestrian
connection across a busy bus station?

Would make sense indeed to connect the new West London line station
(Shepherds Bush) to the Central Line station. By the way, I think the
tube station is to be renamed Shepherds Bush Green, and the
Hammersmith and City line Shepherds Bush station to be renamed
Shepherds Bush Market.
I too have been wondering what those new shafts are for.
