The work has been underway for a while now. No sign of the old new

Definitely a flyover. They should be building quite substantial
embankments either side. A diveunder means closing the line for a long
time, whereas a bridge can be lifted in on a weekend.

Does anyone know where it will join up in the down
direction? South or north of the station?

I haven't seen a 100% clear diagram of this, but there appears to be a
connection at the north end, with the existing platform also remaining
in use. Whether there's also a connection at the south end I can't
tell, but I don't think so.
