However the plan is for standalone Oyster readers to be installed at
the intermediate stations so Oyster PAYG could be used to start or
finish a journey at any station on the line.

Is that likely to happen between Seven Sisters and Liverpool (and
other similar arrangements)?

Hasn't it already happened?

In January 2008 it would seem. Tar.

I've made use of PAYG on these routes a bit already, and very handy it
is too. Hackney Central to Hackney Downs is, as one would hope and
expect, an out-of-station interchange - making such a transfer throws
the pretty grimey Hackney Downs station into sharp contrast with the
increasingly well cared for Hackney Central, which of course is now in
the custodianship of London Overground. Which is a shame, as the very
frequent service in and out of Liverpool St is otherwise makes Hackney
Downs quite an attractive proposition.

Going back to out-of-station interchanges, I think it'd be neat if
Liverpool St to Moorgate was designated as one, at least for PAYG
purposes - I'd much rather just walk the short distance between the
two than have to catch the Circle/Met/H&C one stop, and it could also
take a little bit of the pressure off Liverpool St Underground station.
