Does anyone know if the Hammersmith Bus Station extension that opened
earlier this year is still intended to be temporary? I've had the
misfortune to use it twice recently, and neither was a pleasant
experience:
1. Services that share routes no longer stop at the same (or adjacent)
bus stands, making it very difficult to catch an alternative if one
should arrive first.
2. There is very little shelter from the elements (shades of the old
Butterwick bus station from decades ago).
3. It is necessary to cross bus lanes to get to all of the bus stops -
really quite hazardous without controlled crossings, especially if
dashing to get a bus that has just stopped.
4. All buses have to exit, without the benefit of traffic lights, onto
the busiest part of the Hammersmith one-way system, often taking 5
minutes just to get as far as the exit from the main bus station, less
than 100 yards away.
The plans for a permanent extension to the bus station, built above the
tube platforms, are still on the web:

.... but I've seen nothing to suggest that these are still going ahead.
Does anyone know?
