It could quite easily be done by use of mobile phone technology - but
it would be expensive, and more importantly, very slow.


Given the slowness of the Shere machines in Cambridge station at
validating standard credit cards I can't imagine they could be any slower
over GPRS. They don't accept Electron or Solo (or didn't last week).
