I mention this because the Standard's coverage of transport issues has
been discussed here in the past.

Personally, i'll believe the Standard has turned over a new leaf when
i see Andrew Gilligan fired. Into space. In a capsule made of a
hollowed-out Simon Jenkins.

This is, of course, under its new Russian ownership and with a new
editor (Georgie Greig, from the Tatler, that respected transport
journal). The new regime is out to make friends, hence the change in
tone. Expect a fairly rapid turnover of columnists as the new regime
settles in. I gather there's also been an exodus of readers -- maybe
people bought it for its nastiness?

And now they sell the paper for 10p after 9pm I think (at least at
Victoria that's what they do...)
