I live 15 minutes walk from the nearest tube station. If I get a bus for 15
minutes, I can be in the City, Westminster, or Covent Garden. Seems pretty
acceptable to me...

Do they ? I still consider the bus as drop in
centres on wheels and would rather walk 5 miles
in the rain than use one.
