Its either going to close in 18months or its going to close in 18months. Im not sure which. Huh? Curiously, I can't see anything about closure on the Museum's web site, but since their major development project is planned for 2005, closure is not a surprise. The press release about the project (issued July 2003) is at http://www.ltmuseum.co.uk/about/press/press_cgp.html Anyway its going to close definely. So they can rebuild it make it 21st century style. More intresting for children. Some big video plasma screen or something. "The scheme will resolve current environmental problems that prevent the Museum from being able to safely show around 75% of its collections, including many of its star attractions such as the famous posters, original artwork, photographs, architectural drawings and printed ephemera. This means the Museum will be able to choose from over 300,000 more items to provide dramatic new integrated displays presenting the whole unique story of London's transport and its impact on London and Londoners." The building itself (the former Flower Market at Covent Garden) is listed and its preservation will be supported by the changes (like stopping the roof leaking). They should make it free to visit as well. All muesums should be free. Ah, so now that you're living in the North, you don't mind TfL putting up the fares (the high level of which you have complained about many times), so that you can come up to London and visit the museum for free? -- Richard J.
