Default Another six months of closures on Jubilee line to finish botched upgrade - Evening Standard

The line will part-close every weekend until Christmas, when it will

And no doubt TfL will also go shutting down the Central and/or (most likely
*and*) the District whilst National Express shuts down the Liverpool Street
line and everyone pretends the 25 bus is adequate for all east London's
transport needs without even laying on extra buses.

That'll work well underground.

ROFL! That's a typical Standard error. They mean moving-block
signalling.

Some more dodgy journalism...

"The line, the Tube's newest, has been disrupted more than 100 times
in two years" - what's that, 100 weekends? 100 unscheduled
disruptions?

"The Jubilee line upgrade will allow up to 30 trains an hour to run at
peak times — of particular benefit between Westminster and Canary
Wharf, where it is standing room only in rush hours." So there are
seats available throughout the peaks between Baker Street and
Westminster? And after the upgrade, everyone will get a seat on the
entire line?

Well, the Standard has been calling for seats for everyone on the main line
peak services for the past few years, so why not? :-)

Clearly no-one at the Standard has ever realised that as soon as additional
capacity is provided pax will simply turn up earlier or later as preferred
until they've wedged the trains again...

How about this: there were a hundred times in the last two years that
I (or some nominal "average" JL user) would have liked to use the Jubilee
line, but the presence of engineering work made the journey either more
difficult or discouraged it entirely.

Now I'm not sure it'd really have been as many as 100 times in my
case (perhaps 30-50 ... once a month is already 24 times), but if
I worked on the weekend, it's easily be higher.
