Nothing to do with holding the same views. I'm just ****ing sick and tired
of just because people like me think theres a problem with immigration levels
and the control brussels have over this country, the liberal lefties tar
us with the same brush as the sort of people who beat up jews and go
and kick black kids to death at a bus stop.

If every leftie who waffled on about how much they love multiculturalism
and centralised EU control was immediately compared with the Khmer Rouge
or the Baader-Meinhof Group as soon as they opened their mouths they'd soon be
bleating indignantly like a bunch of wet sheep.

I don't recall many people, "leftie" or not, advocating "centralised
EU control."

Well it isn't the tories who've handed over a large proportion of our
legal and governmental controls to Brussels in the last decade.

Of course UK party politicians are double dealing on this. They go
to the EU and encourage/force them to introduce some policy or other
which they know will be unpopular, then the same party politician
(or their replacement) tells the UK public that their hands are tied
by the EU.

Wouldn't surprise me.

The Tories said that it was all about introducing a single market.

A single economic trading zone is completely different to a single governmental
zone.

Mrs Thatcher pushed the Single European Act through to further this.

AFAIK and as far as I can find out via google, that didn't have anything to
say about handing over the keys to No.10 to unelected eurocrats.

Some Tories did say at the time that it was handing over control to
the EU.

Looks like they were right. But brussels is all in favour of state control
and micromanaging of pretty much everything so no real surprises the labour
party fell in love with the idea of a federal europe and president. And after
all , nationalism is just racism in disguise so anyone who objects is just
a nasty ignorant racist who can be ignored, right?

Boltar, you might be more credible if you confined your rants to delays

People like you might be more credible if you argued the point instead of
just lobbing throwaway putdowns when you read something you don't happen to
agree with. While I generally don't see eye to eye with people like
Hansen and John Band, they're capable of a decent debate.

The words "Boltar" and "credible" should never be used in the same
sentence unless there is also a negative present. ;-)

If there are any keys they are not held by "unelected eurocrats".
They may well be held by unelected British officials though.

Some Tories did say at the time that it was handing over control to
the EU.

Quite the reverse. They are very much in favour of the private
sector. See, for example, their encouragement of splitting up
railways into various companies and the breaking of "monopolies" on
the railways.

and micromanaging of pretty much everything

Again a myth. What is the case is that UK officials have a tendency
to gold plate Directives, and then blame the EU.

so no real surprises the labour
party fell in love with the idea of a federal europe and president.

This is one of the many things Ken Clarke has right. The idea that a
Frenchman is going to be less argumentative and willing to swap
France for a superstate is risible. They are just as proud of being
French now that they use the Euro.

There are some very odd ideas about the EU and indeed the mainland.
