What happened to the District Line east of Plaistow? I heard there was
a fire at Barking on Friday, but still disrupted today?

A major amount of line side cabling completely burnt out affecting traction
supplies, signalling and telecoms. Expected to take 5 or 6 days to rewire
and test apparently, so possibly still out of action until Thursday...

See press release at
http://www.tfl.gov.uk/corporate/medi...tre/16124.aspx

"The fire destroyed dozens of 50 year old cables affecting signals and
traction on District line and Hammersmith & City line services east of
Whitechapel. The heat was so intense that cables and equipment melted.
Specialist London Undergound (LU) in-house engineers were called in to
hand trace the routes and splice in hundreds of metres of new cabling."

Assuming that it happened at a time of day when most trains were out,
where are they parking the ones that can't get to Upminster, can they
walk them through somehow?

They had 4 D stock trains in Northfields depot for the last few days but
a couple disappeared today. I gather some C stock was stabled at
Neasden.
