Their ticket machines allow you to alter the "from" point, will book a seat on relevant trains even when that train is mid-journey, and the Regionale train fare (no seat or advance booking required) was =802.85 each way. Just remember to validate the ticket. Semplice. What is "meerkat" in Italian? ;-) Suricata suricatta ;-) although the allegedly "dead language" leads to suricato as in :- http://regnoanimale.forumfree.it/?t=47484931 Well, yer did..... |

I only say that as we booked out Annual Holiday for next year at Lake Garda and are considering the Artesia overnight to Verona for car hire........ Richard |

If you'd wanted to use Gat Ex, you'd have wanted the undiscounted BZ5 ticket at (I think) £14 - NSE/Gold Card discounts are not available on Gat Ex, stupid though this is[1] now it's actually Southern. [1] Didn't this used to apply to all IC operators, but Gat Ex is the only one left that still does it? Neil -- Neil Williams in Milton Keynes, UK To reply put my first name before the at. |

Richard It's about the same - my intention was to compare East Croydon - Gatwick, with Verona to Desenzano del Garda, which is a longer distance journey. The fare was cheaper, buying it was easier, but the Regionale trains were not great However, Lake Garda is simply beautiful. And your Euro goes a long way there! |

I think though that this reflects the failing fares system we have been lumbered with. Arriving at St. Pancras at 0550am, with a Gatwick departure within 30 minutes from that station, so offer me a ticket that can be used on Gatwick Express. Interesting that Travelcard Z1-5 can be used with an extension to Gatwick on GEx. Didn't know that was possible! |
