Default Northern Line Extension To Battersea

Tfl have started a formal public consultation on the above proposal

http://www.tfl.gov.uk/corporate/medi...tre/19950.aspx

I suppose it will mean a permanent separation of the Charing Cross and
City branches of the Northern Line at Kennington, and might ultimately
mean the splitting of the Northern Line into two separate lines (eg.
Edgware to Morden via Bank and Battersea to High Barnet via Charing
Cross) similarly to what was done when the Hammersmith and City Line
was created.

Any suggestions for a name for the new line?

I'd name the line that goes to Morden the "Southern Line", as it
goes the furtherst south.

Not exactly similar actually. Although the Hammersmith and City became a
new line in name, it had been a separate line in fact for many many years
before then, unlike the bits of the Northern.

Any suggestions for a name for the new line?

They could always revive the Morden-Edgware name!

Still think it's crazy not to route it via Vauxhall, even if only for
passive provision later on. Extending from Battersea Park via
Battersea Central to Clapham Junction would do wonders for the area,
and would mean both Queenstown Road and Vauxhall on the mainline could
close, increasing capacity into Waterloo, though you'd have to improve
Clapham Junction's passageways as well.
