There was a thread some time ago about London stations that have a
commercial connection. (Can someone please provide a link to that
thread as I cannot find it?)
The rumour now is that Oval station is to be renamed Kia Oval so as to
be consonant with the cricket ground. That sounds like a good idea to
me.

As long as the sponsoring company contributes the same amount of money
each year to Transport for London as it contributes in sponsorship to
the cricket authorities, that might be acceptable.

But any sponsorship of the Oval cricket ground will be time-limited.
The current agreement with Kia (Korean car manufacturer) will end on
31 December 2015. What will happen when a new sponsor comes in, or if
no new sponsor can be found?

For example, if The Oval became the Durex Oval, would TfL rename the
station after a condom?

I though that it had been the "Brit" Oval for the past 10 years.

As a cricket fan, I still haven't the faintest idea what a "Brit" product
is, so it hasn't worked very well.

I am a cricket fan as well and I too have only a vague idea about what
a Brit is.
I do not drive a car, so at first the Kia name went over my head as
well. My first thought were indeed of Kia Ora, the cinema drink.

Sam and Mick's double act was some time ago now though!

The Brit in question however has/had nowt to do with the BPI's annual
promotional boozy shindig (nor the related performing arts school). I won't
spoil the fun by being the source of the exposure...

I'm not a cricket fan, and I didn't realise what "Brit" referred to.

A little searching reveals that, pre-Kia, the Oval was called the
"Brit Insurance Oval", taking its name from Brit Insurance which,
perhaps not surprisingly, is an insurance company based in the UK.

Went to The Oval for the first time a couple of weeks ago. The old pavilion
looks digusting with 4 massive sponsor logos covering most of it up.
Certainly put me off buying a Kia car, (or visiting The Oval again)

Cinema drink? What? All i know about it is that it's too orangey for
crows. I mentally conflate it with Capri Sun, which was different, and
came in foil packets like spacemen doubtless have.
