Let's sort out the London end where the problems are. We are getting
Crossrail 1, the East-West line. We almost have Crossrail 0, the
North-South Thames link, 2/3 of the cost of Crossrail 1 and of roughly
equal importance. We are talking about Crossrail 3 the North-East -
South-West line. *What about leap-frogging Crossrail 3 and going for
Crossrail 4. A new undergound "DC line", the South-Eastern tail end
could take over some of routes from London Bridge. It would take all
the passengers off the DC lines, whe could use all four tracks out of
Euston for long distance. Now there's *Gold!*

If you want the DC off Euston and the Camden bank, divert the DC trains to
Stratford via Primrose Hill and the North London Line. Build a proper
interchange at Primrose Hill/Chalk Farm and preferably another at South
Hampstead/Swiss Cottage. Simples.

The Interchange at Chalk Farm/Primrose Hill would be fairly
straightforward. TfL would need to extend the intermediate/mezzanine
level tunnel at Chalk Farm, under Adelaide Road, and the Primrose Hill
platforms. Add some steps and an ADA compliant elevator and the two
are an integrated station.

South Hampstead/Swiss Cottage is not so easy. But, IMHO it is
worthwhile. It would allow passengers to change before reaching
Marylebone Road/Euston Road.
