That's really close to where they are building the bridge over the KX
throat. Any chance of a sighting from there?

It's not over the throat, which is the small space between the KX platforms
and Gasworks Tunnel. The CTRL site is about half a mile north of there,
immediately south of the North London Line viaduct.

Having now looked at the photos on the CTRL site, I think it is going to be
difficult to get a good view of Annie. Look at the photo at
http://www.ctrl.co.uk/photos/display...39&L=18&SL=151
This was taken last October, looking east, and shows the tunnel portal,
with the ECML running in front of it left to right, and the NLL viaduct
across the top left corner. In the bottom right-hand corner is the
skeleton of the bridge to carry the CTRL over the ECML. This bridge was
pushed into position across the ECML tracks over Christmas, and must now be
very close to the tunnel portal. (The portal is only 65 metres east of the
ECML, according to the CTRL Act.) Also, the bridge skeleton has been
covered, so you can't see inside it any more. In October, when I was last
there, you could see the portal from York Way, but I think the bridge would
now obstruct that view. There are more photos at
http://www.ctrl.co.uk/photos/constru...sp?L=20&SL=129.

You might get a better view from a NLL train.

So where is Annie going to go, after breaking out? Sounds like it's a
bit crowded there.

Annie is the name of one of the digging machines that's currently
digging a 7.5km tunnel between Stratford and Kings Cross for the
CTRL.

Does this mean that people on the Piccadilly Line trains between York
Road and Caledonian Road will actually be able to see the tunnel? Or
am I misunderstanding where the digger will emerge?

LOL! Unless things have gone radically adrift, Annie will break out into
the open air at the location marked by the arrow at
http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.sr...4&y=184169&z=1
If Piccadilly Line passengers can see any of this, they should start
worrying.

Just out of curiosity , do these CTRL tunnels pass above or below the tube
lines there?

AFAIK the Piccadilly Line runs directly underneath the East Coast Main
Line, which CTRL crosses by bridge just west of the tunnel portal.

Presumably the Victoria line follows York Way and then turns under the
NLL, which is the same path as the CTRL as far as Highbury and
Islington.

Not at all: the Vic runs not surprisingly close to Angel Station. Somebody
might remember the location of the ventilation shaft in the area... is it
Gibson Square?

That's why my vehicle's the Piccadilly Line -
It's the size of a county and it comes every two and a half minutes

I sit corrected :-) Presumably it's the Piccadilly that's under York Rd,
then?

AFAIK the Picc is under the mainline from Kings Cross to Finsbury Park
inclusive. (Which is stupid, because it's obvious that they should have
built it under Caledonian Road...)

The line might be (most of the way) but afaik the *station* is under
York Rd. Easier to build there than under platform 1, for example.
