Huh? Are you advertising a TV programme? If so, which channel?

BBC4 - the prog is about 55 Broadway.

It has been shown before but the LU 150 celebrations are a good excuse
for a re-run.

Surbiton Station would be one example of Art Deco.

Episode 1 did Claridges and this is episode 2.

Episode 3 of the series is Casa Del Rio (a house in Devon) and Episode 4
is the Orient Express, but it's not clear if they are repeating episodes
3 & 4 as well as 1 & 2, especially as episode 1 was on Monday and
episode two is next Tuesday, so they could just be filling some ransom
holes in the schedule.

Except the main frontage could be said to be simply a stucco
knockoff of Holden's designs for the likes of Sudbury Town and
Northfields executed 5-7 years earlier.

Holden and Ashfield sensibly chose brick which requires less
maintenance and wears better than white stucco which looks shabby
without frequent repainting. More especially on buildings
such as railway stations in the centre of towns. On seaside
pavilions perhaps...

The tower at the side looks very much like an afterthought
unlike Holden's tower at Osterley. While the ventilation
slats at the top add interest, its hard not to conclude
that the clock would have been better placed by being
incorporated into the main frontage in some way.

My late grandfather (A H Cantrell, chief civil engineer for the Southern
region of BR) was *most* uncomplimentary about the roof over the
concourse at London Bridge station, as rebuilt in, I think, 1978. The
glass pyramids were supposed to let light in, but he pointed out,
correctly, that they would get filthy and would be hard to clean.

In latter years the few bits of them that weren't covered in soot and
bird **** seemed to be covered in moss.

But now it appears to be being demolished, to be replaced with a
gigantic expanse of glass. Modern glass coatings will do a pretty
decent job of keeping dirt off, and the shape of the roof will be easier
to clean when dirt does eventually manage to stick.

Just because it is possible to do this sort of thing
in the English language doesn't mean it should be done

Okay, I was misled. Thanks.

Great quote - "Nice and shiny, the goldness that you only get from
bronze". I have a feeling you might get goldness from gold too.

But a less tasteful goldness, perhaps?
