Indeed, would there even be track capacity at the Watford end, as the Met will also be using the same tracks? |

The intention is to highlight the 'Overground' circle, which it achieves very well. As Recliner notes, it introduces a very familiar shape in the centre which would be great subliminal advertising if only it were an official design! A round Circle Line would be a separate project, though I suspect it would make the outskirts rather messy. If memory serves correctly Mr Beck tried an elliptical Circle Line and was unable to make it work satisfactorily (though that may have been one of the later designers, Garbutt maybe). PhilD -- |

On that diagram it would have no effect on the outskirts, the worst it might do is introduce some extra kinks in the Northern Line between Kings Cross and Monument. -- Roland Perry |

He has produced a whole range of Underground maps using different design methodologies. He even has a book on the subject. Some of the designs in it are barely usable (and he produces them to prove that very point) yet artistically appealing. |

I don't like the way the Northern Line City branch around Kennington crosses the Charing Cross branch twice and the Bakerloo once, all unnecessarily. -- Ukip - Breaking the fungus of British politics |
