2014 fares - announced soon?

Any ideas when the new fares for 2014 will be announced?

Did I read a suggestion somewhere that the Oyster daily caps might stay
at the same prices?

Side issue - bring back the zones 2-6 cap! Not going to happen, I
know... :-(

Also, TfL could do a much better job of publicising the 'off-peak into
zone 1' evening fare concession - which isn't a bad deal (relatively
speaking, in the context of London fares!). Only applies to journeys
wholly on TfL services (Tube, LO, DLR) of course - would be great if the
TOCs were to follow suit, but it's more likely for the cable car to be
rebranded as the Flying Danish Bacon Line before that happens. (Not
least because the Danish Bacon brand is no more.)

The "go live" date in retail systems is 5th December, though TfL tend to
announce their increase a few weeks earlier so it should be any time now.

V interesting. So the TOC fare offices and RSP are beavering away
creating the fares data for upload to devices?

The NR "freeze" for NFM17 (2nd January - 17th May 2014 or thereabouts)
was last Friday I believe, prior to implementation from 6th December for
travel from 2nd January.

I *assume* TfL follow a similar timetable, given the need to negotiate
London zonal fares with the TOCs.

I think we can exclude that possibility :)

I'm already livid! Not least because in the absence of an announcement I
haven't yet been given the chance to get angry yet. Maybe Boris's plan
is simply not to make an announcement. Or else he could arrange for an
extra-marital dalliance or two to make front page news on the day of the
announcement. The 'Affairs to bury Bad Fares Affair'. And if it happened
on the Helter Skelter or Ghost Train then Funfair could be added in to
the mix. On second thoughts, I'll leave the punning headlines to the
subs on the Standard.

Well he *must* take a Mayoral Decision and he must publish it. Whether
he announces it is up to him but you can guarantee that London
journalists and bloggers will be watching that bit of the Mayoral
website. I'm certainly keeping an eye on it but I don't expect to be
first to spot the decision!

Doesn't he have to give notice five days beforehand when he considers making
a decision?
