Filthy Seats on the Underground esp. the Bakerloo Line
 

For some reason the seats on certain Underground trains are absolutely filthy - indeed BLACK with grime. Certain carriages on the Bakerloo Line seem to be the worst - threadbare, with black ingrained dirt, and obviously uncleaned for decades.

Its not simply thoughtless idiots putting their feet up onto the seats as happens on many National Rail services.

Neither is it building demolition / construction workers sitting on the seats in filthy work clothes.

Whatever both groups should be banned from trains.

But it appears to be a compete and utter lack of keeping the seats clean by T4L &/or its cleaning contractors.

The Bakerloo Line seats are filthy and black with ingrained dirt.

But who to complain to is a problem. No-one cares.

How long have you waited for responses?
I find it more useful to complain by 'phone and get a service ticket
number, than to send an email. (One can be kept on hold for an
unreasonable time. I've just given up after 10'. ;)
LU customer services is supposed to answer questions within 10 working
days. I find they often do not and I chase by 'phone.
That usually gets a response within a couple of days.

I find London Assembly Members get a good response.
(Sample is 1 Lib Dem and 1 Labour.) In CJB's position, I might try a
member representing the Queen's Park area.
I agree Bakerloo has unacceptably dirty seats.
30 years ago, it had unacceptably hot trains.

I agree just got on train from Wealdstone and was completely shocked at the state of the seats on the Bakerloo line. The seats were so filthy I had to put my just cleaned chinos in the wash. This line is so neglected its unreal !

And during the recent tweet a 'Bakerloo Line Manager' excercise first of all my account was blocked due to me trying to use Twitter from a free wifi (at the Southbank), and then when I got that fixed I tried to send a tweet and that was blocked with the accusation that it was automatically generated.. I tried numerous times with different wording butnothing got through. So I 'de-activated' my Twitter account - total waste of time.

Meanwhile the seats remain absolutely filthy with threadbare coverings and black ingrained muck. But no-one cares least of all T4L.

We're a filthy nation.

I don't think TFL have access to twitter in that way. I am intrigued as to how tfl could do such a thing.......

Sadly I don't hold much hope in the toilet level standards on the baker loo line their website states that the baker loo is last in line for an upgrade and most of the line runs on ex British Rail infrastructure....

I travelled on the Bakerloo Line yesterday; not something I do very often.
I didn't find it black with grime. The seat covers were a bit worn although
threadbare would be an overstatement.

My account was blocked when I logged in apparently due to an unfamiliar IP address that I was using - actually a free wifi service. Then having got that unblocked Twitter wouldn't send the text of my tweet(s) claiming that the text was auto-generated as spam. I gave up and deactivated my account. CJB.
