How do you know he wasn't doing a perfectly legal 30mph and suddenly
had to swerve because some pillock on a bike wandered into his path?
Seen those sorts of near misses a number of times. Most of the supposed
deaths by lorry were due to the cyclist not using any common sense.

He must have been going a fair bit to get across the subway like that.

Its not even a car length.

He had to get through the railing which is meant to resist vehicles, and
jump half the subway.

Those railings are not meant to resist vehicles. They are normal pedestrian guard railings that are there to stop any pedestrian silly enough to be walking round that side of the subway from falling down into the subway.

The car may or may not have been speeding but it could easily land where it did if it was travelling at 30 mph.

If you want to stop 1.5 tons of car doing 30mph - never mind a bus or HGV -
you're going to need something a big stronger than the railings I see there.

jump half the subway.

That car would straddle the subway. Do you think something doing 30mph stops
dead the minute it leaves the road?

It's a pity the article gives only one picture. Cost of developing too high?
