Oyster prepay capping
 

Is there any more news on when Oyster prepay capping might be
available? The April edition of The Londoner has the obligatory
Oyster article which says:

Fare capping will save Pre Pay users money by stopping the
total cost of journeys made on a single day going above the
price of a one day Travelcard.

These sounds like good news compared to the rumors that capping
would be at the level of an LT card, assuming the Londoner is
accurate...

A LT card is a one day travelcard, if you travel before 09:30 ;-)

WHEN it comes in the capped fare will be according to what you travel and
when.

3 journeys in zone 1&2 cost £6.00
With capping on Pre-Pay:

1 - £2.00
2 - £2.00
3 - £0.30
4+ NIL

When you travel out then to say zone 6 the additional fare would be £1.00
(assuming after 09.30 travel).

When capping comes in it will make the pre-pay oyster far more user
friendly.

I think I experienced capping a while back while I was stationspotting
a month or two ago, but I'd need one of those super-long printouts from
a ticket office to be sure.

And way more useful than Carnet, which it isn't really at the moment for
Z1 journeys. Looking forward to it.

Any word on buses yet... :-/ I keep holding out buying Savers in the
vain hope that TfL will announce bus prepay.

Will the system be intelligent enough to work out the following in any
order?
Bus 1: £0.70 (£0.70)
Bus 2: £0.70 (£1.40)
Bus 3: £0.70 (£2.10)
Bus 4: £0.40 (£2.50 = bus pass)
Tube (Z1) 1: £1.60 (£4.10)
Tube (Z1) 2: £0.20 (£4.30 = ODTC)

(Assuming one hasn't got fed up of buses by #4...)

Not heard anything right now - but then generally speaking, customers hear
about it at the same time as staff :-)

Or they phone up HO to be told it isn't true and then find out the next day
it is and are given the low-down on it. Then find out 2 weeks later that
what they were told wasn't quite right because no one person has all the
facts about the new wonderful shiny thing.

Or, in some cases, BEFORE the staff, and then staff make frantic phone
calls to Head Office trying to find out about this brilliant new product
and how to issue the damn thing...Or is that just National Rail?
