Commuting: the life sentence?
Museums & Galleries Month 2004: "Travel and the Art of Travelling"

20th May, 7pm
Terrace Room, Museum of London
Tickets: £8.00 (£6.00 concessions)

The one aspect of the daily grind that is guaranteed to provoke an
opinion is the commute to work. Congested roads, overcrowded trains,
packed buses and sweaty tubes – it's been said that if travel broadens
the mind, commuting shrinks it back. But if it's so bad why do so many
of us continue to do it? Why has the simple act of getting to work
become such a major cause for concern?
