Chucked out at Wembley - Trade Descriptions Act

So I was travelling on a Jubilee train the other day which was marked
for Stanmore. Then just outside Wembley Park the driver informed us
all that we were being chucked out at Wembley Park and not going onto
our stated destination...

Two questions...

1) Why tell us...Just, as we were getting to Wembley Park

and

2) Could I sue TFL for breach of the Trade Descriptions Act 1968 which
"...legislates against misleading descriptions of all foods and
services."

Since the London Underground is a service, I would like to know what
you all think.

Because there's a very good chance that that is when the driver found out
that he was reversing there...

Don't be silly, if it was possible it would have been done ages ago...

How long did you have to wait to continue your journey? Did LUL deliver you
to your intended destination?

The event which forced the termination of the train might have been
unexpected - it could have been a problem further up the line, or even a
fault on the train that required attention in Neasden. LUL doesn't have
to explain every single detail about their operations, but if they
really didn't say why the train was terminated short, that's a bit odd.

Unlikely. Does the TDA have clauses protecting organizations like LUL,
if it is within the TDA's remit, if they provide a service which can
experience difficulties?

Diddums!

I think the description has to be intended to mislead, rather than simply
inaccurate. So, if the train had said "Barbados", when LU had no intention
of running it all the way there (the fiends!), then you might be able to
have a crack.

Did your ticket/contract state/guarantee a specific route and/or stipulate
no changes ? If so, I'm sure you have an excellent case (if you can do
anything about it before the van with the men in white coats arrives)

Perhaps he had only just found out. Had the train become defective? What
reason was stated? Was the train slated for a different destination?

No.

It's better than some, worse than others. I feel it's getting better but
it has a long way to go - up or down!

Section 4.1 of the TfL Conditions of Carriage includes this:
"We reserve the right ... to stop trains from running to a particular
station without giving notice beforehand."

Thanks Richard,

Apart from the childish replies, the response has been helpful.

To the person who said "diddums", I wasn't overly upset or going to
complain, I just thought it would be an interesting question to pose.
