First things first, is there to be a usable junction between the two lines at Stratford, and which side of the station? I don't think it's possible to send Eurostar through Crossrail; the pathing would be nearly impossible. I don't think that's what Alastair meant anyway - more likely using the North London Line from just before St Pancras to get to Acton (Wells Jcn?)? More useful, is it possible to send CrossRail through the CTRL link from Stratford to Ebbsfleet? Why? The point of the Ebbsfleet branch is surely not to link Ebbsfleet to Crossrail, but to connect the Isle of Dogs, Royal Docks and other more populated parts of North Kent. Jonn Elledge Perhaps. But it would be nice to see CrossRail serve more areas. Ideally , it would be nice to have a link from the Liverpool St to Grays, using the CTRL between Stratford and the Thames. Looking back at a previous posting, it seems the CTRL has a capacity for 8 International and 8 domestic tph. However, there are currently 3 Eurostar tph, and they're only 50-70% full, so I would see future capacity as 12 domestic and 4 Eurostar. Again, 12 domestic trains (of 16 carriages) is more than enough for Stratford, Ebbsfleet and Ashford. So what are the routes? |
