Stanmore old station
Hi all
There is a building called "The Old Station" at the corner of Gordon Ave and Old Church Lane, but it looks too new to be the old station, and doesn't particularly look like a station. It bears a plaque about the Harrow And Stanmore Railway. Is it the original station building, or merely occupying the site? -- John Rowland - Spamtrapped Transport Plans for the London Area, updated 2001 http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Acro...69/tpftla.html A man's vehicle is a symbol of his manhood. That's why my vehicle's the Piccadilly Line - It's the size of a county and it comes every two and a half minutes |

If you can see something looking IIRC vaguely church-like then it's the old station; otherwise, the location sounds correct but you might have some newer construction blocking the view. The building was disused for many years, right into the 1980's. I used to walk past quite often and just along from there for a long time was often parked, a mini car covered in old pennies. -- Jim A |
