Piccadilly Line west of Hammersmith..

Anybody a regular passenger of the Piccadilly Line on the non-stop bit from
Hammersmith to Acton Town? Why is the ride so bumpy? Sometimes it feels like
the carriage is going to derail! I don't remember it being like that
before..

Thanks

The track is falling to pieces and needs to be rebuilt. Metronet is
_supposed_ to begin replacing it in 2005.
If you look at it you'll see how poor-quality it is in some places.

I seem to remember it being even worse from time to time in the past. I
don't know that it's much worse than elsewhere, but it seems it as the
trains go relatively fast along that stretch. My test is whether I can
keep reading (and I always try to sit towards the centre of the car --
there's no chance if you're near the end).
