You really need to write more articles on this sort of stuff, so that
people like me will stop asking silly questions!

Thanks for the info.

Try investing in some books?

Books on LU signalling are thin on the ground. If you know where I can
get some good ones I will buy them almost immediately.

Get in touch with http://www.irse.org/ and enquire about their "green books"
which were reprinted a while ago. You might also want to consider membership
of the Signalling Record Society http://www.siam.co.uk/srs/

There is also Railway Signalling, by O S Nock, publisher A & C Black. Now
out of print you might well find a secondhand copy somewhere. Don't get
confused with an earlier book "BRITISH RAILWAY SIGNALLING: A Survey of Fifty
Years' Progress." which is about the history of the IRSE. Although most of
Nock's writings are about locos he was by trade a signal engineer.

It's unlikely you will find anything specifically on LT/LU signallng since
it is too specialist and there would not be a suitably large market for it.
However, the basic principles of LU and mainline practice are the same, it's
the implementation and the additional gadgets like programme machines which
differs.

Perhaps we could commission a monograph from Clive?

If there is someone willing, to include the historical aspects as well, I'd
be interested.
