If you go to the TTfL web site http://tube.tfl.gov.uk/ and look at the first &
last trains schedule for each line, Sunday closures are listed there. Didn't see
a consolidated list anywhere.

Seems like there used to considerably more. Lancaster Gate used to be closed on
Sundays IIRC.

Indeed there were. Looking at a 1972 map it gives Covent Garden, Ravenscourt
Park and Shadwell as closed on Sundays and Barbican, Fairlop, Mornington
Crescent, Roding Valley and West Brompton as closed on Saturdays and
Sundays.

West Brompton reopened at weekends with the opening of the West London
Line platforms, I believe.

Of course, at the moment, Sloane Square, St James's Park, Blackfriars,
Mansion House and Tower Hill tend to be closed on Sundays, along with
Wembley Park, Preston Road and Northwick Park...

This is correct.

With the shift to seven-day opening, I wonder if the three remaining
six-day stations will open on Sundays any time in the near future...

I imagine Cannon Street only would if the NR station also did.
Otherwise, would it actually have any pass - er sorry - customers?

Because they wouldn't get enough users to make it worth while opening.
They are all in business areas.

There aren't enough people using them to justify paying the staff to keep
them open.

I thought Cannon Street NR station had been open on Sundays since the mid
1990s.

Incidentaly, this thread wouldn't be complete without a mention of
Shoreditch, which is open for part of Sunday but closed all day Saturday.

Cannon Street is as dead as dead can be on a Sunday, but I suppose the
other two might have possibilities.

IIRC you're thinking of Saturdays. The only time Cannon Street is open
on Sundays is when part of the line between Charing Cross and London
Bridge is closed due to trackwork being done.

Incidentaly, this thread wouldn't be complete without a mention of
Shoreditch, which is open for part of Sunday but closed all day Saturday.

Any plans to open it on Saturdays?

No, but they are definite going to close it completely in the next few
years.

Oh yeah, in the mid 90s the NR station was open Mon-Sat but the tube station
was open Mon-Fri. Glad they've resolved that.

Incidentally, this thread wouldn't be complete

No, but there are plans to close it on Sundays to Fridays.

Did anyone register an objection to the closure of Shoreditch?

Did anyone really notice/care? :-)

Incidentally, Shoreditch is only the 4th most lightly used station on
LU... outclassed by Grange Hill, Chigwell and Roding Valley.

Does anyone think that Shoreditch High Street is an adequate replacement for
Shoreditch? IMHO the two serve completely different catchments (Brick Lane
for Shoreditch, and Bishopsgate/east end of Old Street/Great Eastern Street
for Shoreditch High Street).

Exactly where is the new station going to be?
I along with hundreds of others use Shoreditch on a Sunday to get
to the markets, I go to Spitalfields which is only a few minutes walk
away and lots of others to Brick Lane, but I must admit that a station
in or very near Shoreditch High St would be very useful for me and it
is still easy enough to walk down to Spitalfields. Getting to Shoreditch
High St is rather more tedious from Shoreditch and the High St is a
handy place for getting buses.

Sorry, I had temporarily forgotten all of that, yes it looks like
the new station will be much more convenient than the existing, and
no less easy to get to the markets.
Normally to get to that area I get NR from New Cross Gate to London Bridge
and the get a bus to Shoreditch Church, but having used the ELL for
over 20 years I would prefer that route, using the present Shoreditch
the walk up to the church from the station is a bit tedious.
