I suspect that not many people know that there's a non-TfL bus service
across the Thames at the Dartford bridge/tunnel which links the eastern ends
of the routes on which TfL's 'All London Bus Pass' is valid (372 to Lakeside
on the north side and 492 to Bluewater on the south side). TfL information
offices seem to be unaware of the route X80, operated by Ensign
(www.ensign.com and www.routeX80.com ) since at least 16 Oct. 2004, and it
is not (yet?) shown on either London Buses' SE London bus map or the
National Rail London Connections rail map, BTW it also links various rail
stations, notably Chafford Hundred and Greenhithe, but all are outside Zone
6. IMHO the view from Dartford bridge (southbound only) alone is worth the
fare ;-)

Is it a double decker?

A man's vehicle is a symbol of his manhood.
That's why my vehicle's the Piccadilly Line -
It's the size of a county and it comes every two and a half minutes

I saw both single and double-deckers in use on route X80. But fortunately
the parapets are low enough for good views from the single-deckers. And
AFAIK all traffic northbound runs via the tunnel, from which the view is not
so spectacular ;-)

Gather it is being run by a former London Central NV. I know NV13 used to
run on it but was sold and to single decker for a short time.

Take care, this is not the only X80 around the southern M25 area. There is
another operated by Oxford buses between Oxford and Gatwick Airport.

They have one which they use on the busiest trips.

The usual buses are Volvo single decks but they are being replaced with
newer low floor Dennis Dart vehicles.
