What's going on this morning - reportedly a power surge.

Don't they have fuses?

Tube warning after 'bang' heard

Londoners are being urged to avoid the Tube network after reports of an
explosion at Liverpool Street Station.
London Fire Brigade (LFB) said they were called to reports of an
explosion at Liverpool Station in the City of London just after 0900
GMT.

A LFB spokeswoman said four crews were at the scene and more were on
their way to the station which is now closed. Cordons are in place.

A power failure may be behind the problems, Transport for London said.

Tube warning after 'bang' heard

Aldgate and Edgware Road sound to be particularly affected.

Whatever it is it sounds big. Hope there are no serious casualties.

From ITV.com

Emergency services were called to London's Liverpool Street station
after an explosion at 8.49am and British Transport Police said the
incident happened on the Metroplitan Line and may have been caused by
two trains colliding, a power cut or a power cable exploding.

Nice to know the BTP can't tell the difference between a train crash or
an electrical fault on the patch they're responsible for

That occurred to me, too.

Smooth FM are reporting the top blown off a bus in Russell Square. I
can't see how that can be the result of anything is Russell Square Tube.
Is there a substation or something there?

This all looks now more like terrorism as a bus in Tavistock sq/woburn
place area seems to have been blown up.

My sister works in Victoria Street near to New Scotland Yard. They've
been told not to leave the office and stay away from the front of the
building. From the pattern of past terrorist incidents these bombs are
timed to go off at once, so the danger is probably now past. The bus
explosion was on one of the tourist buses.

Shutting down the TfL website is really helpful in planning alternative
routes and journies.

I'm afraid it certainly looks like that. The BBC are reporting "quite a
large number of casualties" at Aldgate.
