Default London Explosions

With so many separate explosions the instigators must have left clues and it
is up to everybody to report ANYTHING even slightly suspicious. All the
underground explosions seem to have occurred along the Hammersmith and City
line and the explosion on the bus was on a bus which was going away from the
Euston area. Had the/a perpetrator been turned off the underground before
placing all his bombs and getting away by bus when one of his bombs went off
?

You are assuming the bomber left bombs behind before leaving.

That is certainly a possibility, amongst others (including multiple
suicides). It wouldn't be the first time a bomber blew himself up by
accident whilst on a bus. But at this stage, as the police say, one
must keep an open mind.

The really wierd thing is the nature of the explosions. You might expect
terrorist who have the need to conceal their devices to use high performance
plastique of some sort, even Semtex "H", but the more reports I read of
people having their clothes blown off, surviving without hearing loss when
the explosion occurred quite close, of having their skin blackened by the
blasts and them producing copious clouds of black smoke the more it sounds
like ANFO (ammonium nitrate fuel oil) which is amateur stuff. It would also
mean quite big packages.
Yet the timing of the outrages and the planning etc look really
professional.

Red London buses are pretty iconic. I'd have thought the
terrorists might want at least one highly visible example
of bomb damage for the cameras; especially since the others
were underground.

Given the nature and timing of the blasts - highly co-ordinated and
synchronised and timed for maximum inconvenience - I suspect it's not
just luck and effective strategies that meant more weren't killed. Each
of the blasts could 'easily' have been bigger, i.e. a higher death toll,
but unlikely to have had much more impact?

It's little consolation to the many directly affected, but the bombers
seem to have been aiming at disruption and headlines than actually
wiping out the largest possible numbers.
