Last three RM routes
 

I was surprised today how many of the 1961 RML batch seemed to be still
in use on the last three Routemaster routes.

I saw three of them on my way home, 892 and 895 on the 159 and 888
(IIRC) on the 38. I remember 899 was a regular on the 14 too. How many
of the batch of 24 are still in service?

Am I right in thinking that no RMLs are running on the 13 so any RMLs
still in service are on the 38 or 159?

you still get the odd RML on the 13, they still have the London United logo
on them

United logo on them

Oh well. I only see 13s crossing my path at Trafalgar Square so don't
get to see as many as I do of the 159 and 38 whose routes I pass along
(159 in Whitehall) or cross in more than one place (38).

While I will be sad when the 13 RM`s do finally go at least Golders Green is
close to where I live so attending the final day with all it`s (fingers
crossed) special services will be a lot easier.

For the last 13 years this route has been my main way of travelling to the
west end, purely because riding a routemaster is more comfortable and more
fun then getting the tube.

RML's left on the 13 2734 & 2744

887, 889 & 899 were all withdrawn on Friday when the 14 & 22 went OPO. They
2 RML's on the 13 are helping out the unreliable "Marshall" RM's at Edgware

So 9 out of the batch of 24 were still in service until then?
Remarkable for 44 year old buses!

They 2 RML's on the 13 are helping out the unreliable "Marshall"
RM's at Edgware

So the Marshall's rebuilds aren't as reliable as has been made out?

Sullivan Buses have a few routemasters that they're using on the Arnos
Grove - Finchley Central Picadilly Line Replacement service; it's the
first time in over a decade that I've seen routemasters in Finchley.

I have been told, by a user of the service, that a London Country
Routemaster has been deployed. This, presumably, is also unusual for
Finchley?
