Bus Replacement Service for District/Piccadilly Eng. Work.

I thought this report deserved greater exposu

Picc train from Heathrow arrives Acton EB, -lug cases upstairs to
'waiting' bus -try to get cases on 'high floor' buses being used
(hopefully remaining downstairs)-bus then runs Acton-Hammersmith ALL
stations, -CHANGE buses in Hammersmith bus station! (cases off 1st bus,
onto 2nd bus)-2nd route running via West Kensington to WEST BROMPTON!
not even the station, but the yard in front of Lillie Bridge Depot- the
station
can't even be seen from there!-Get cases off 2nd bus, walk across
reasonably busy road into West Brompton station-down more stairs to EB
platform -then hopefully the 1st train is going to a destination you
require! or, as still no Picc at Sth Ken, it's ALL CHANGE again
somewhere else!! Imagine the reaction of tourists taking this
unfamiliar route on these
days?!

The bus services weren't using Hammersmith bus station on Saturday. The
Acton Town service was terminating outside the met station whilst the West
Brompton one was starting from Hammersmith Road just to the east of the bus
station entrance.

The replacement buses are intended for local journeys not for passengers
travelling from Central London to Heathrow. Anyone going to Heathrow would
be much better advised to take the Heathrow Express from Paddington on which
Travelcards are valid while the engineering work goes on.

The replacement buses were only supposed to be for local journeys.
People travelling from Heathrow to Central London or beyond were
advised to use Heathrow Express or Connect as first choice, or the
Tube via Acton Town and Ealing Broadway as an alternative.

Having said that, after seeing the LARGE number of people waiting for
replacement buses and westbound District at Acton Town late on Sunday
evening, many with heavy luggage, I suspect that TfL may have been
prevented by agreement from advertising the Travelcard validity on
Heathrow Express/Connect at Heathrow, to prevent HEx from losing
revenue from all their "usual" passengers buying Travelcards instead
of full-price tickets.

TfL have printed two seperate leaflets regarding these travel changes,
one details the local journey options, the other tells passengers of
their options for getting to Heathrow. Perhaps they should've combined
the information into one leaflet.

Maybe they wanted to keep the advice to air travellers simple, and not
confuse them with details of local journeys. But on the August weekend,
they ran out of leaflets at Heathrow! However, they had several staff
almost blocking the entrance to the Tube station at T123, making sure
that all passengers heading for Central London were advised to buy a
Travelcard and then walk round the corner to the HEx station.
